Senior Staff Engineer (Laboratory Automation)

The majority of this role will be leading, guiding, direction technical teams and be customer-facing; coordinating with leadership, and providing a holistic view to the development teams (asking the right questions, driving technical expertise, etc).

  • Provide technical product support and guidance to proactively maintain product performance or resolve customer complaints¬ for¬ hardware and software issues.
  • Diagnose and Investigate customer reported problems, applies standard troubleshooting tools and concepts to identify the real issue and its root cause.
  • Record accurate and timely documentation of customer complaints and the action taken to resolve the concern.
  • Support¬ creation¬ of documents like¬ product¬ and technical manuals.
  • Performs and documents Risk Assessments.
  • Process design change for automation systems with connected modules and analytical instrument systems
  • Ability to follow a project from conceptual design through final stages
  • Able to work with other engineers to develop, and implement new products or changes in existing products.
  • Familiar with Technical Product Support and Engineering Change Control activities
  • Develops recommendations and implement solutions that reflect customer and business needs.

We seek an experienced engineer with strong experience in clinical lab workflow, automation, and platform development for medical instruments. This role is focused on achieving top notch customer satisfaction through design enhancements/change, product engineering, modifications of solutions, and overall support across the business offerings.


      Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

      • Bachelor‚ s/Master‚ s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Informatics, IT Technology, or a related field (or foreign degree equivalent)
      • 8-10 years of experience, with system level design change (mechanical, software, electrical) experienced desired.
      • Clinical laboratory domain knowledge required - specifically laboratory automation (test tube transport, retrieval, handling, routing, modules, complex software/system interfaces)
      • Problem-solving and process methodology experience; fault tree, fishbone, 5Why, etc
      • Strong analysis skills - statistical data interpretation, simulations, calculations
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Outlook Word Excel Visio Powerpoint
      • Strong communication and mentoring skills.
